Kassy is an odd and interesting hybrid - yogi and singer. After receiving a masters degree in vocal performance from UW Madison, she was searching for more ways to use her voice. After studying with internationally known vocal pedagogues like Jeanie LoVetri, Lisa Popeil and Dr. Joan Melton, Kassy was struck by how many of them used body movement practices and techniques to support the voice and the person attached to it.
She became an RYT 200 studying with Aubree Saia at Jewel in the Lotus. Soon after, she became a teacher and studio director in Cottage Grove. After earning her E-RYT 200 she began to work with Amy Pearce-Hayden to earn an RYT 500. That training will be completed in July 2016.
In addition to teaching a variety of yoga classes at Kula and Earthview, Kassy teaches a reoccurring eight week Yoga for Performers series through Maven Vocal Arts. She is also the founder and creator of The Voice of Yoga, a method using concepts of yoga to train singers which she uses in her home music studio with private voice students. Kassy loves the balance between practicing and teaching yoga and voice.
